FINEST 2-1 Fixed Assets The module allows users to link
assets to one another, report on the complete
history of an assets movement, determine
depreciation and changes in valuations. The module
also provides for items which may not be assets
but still require control measures (e.g. issue of
equipment or uniforms, loan of items and so
on).
FINEST 2-2 General Functionality FINEST
security can be fully or partially devolved
through the Accounting Office structure. A
FINEST User
Profile is established to control access to Cost
Centers, as well as to Programs and Account items.
This profile can be given access to one or more
accounting offices. Documents created within an
accounting office can only be viewed when logged
on to that office. Functional access is similarly
controlled by a user being defined to a user
group. Password Security is also necessary for
cheque production.
FINEST 2-3 General Ledger In addition to the three structures
fundamental to the chart of accounts, FINEST also
has a project/job costing 'structure' which allows
managers to provide budgets for project/jobs and
then monitor commitment and expenditure levels
against them. Funds control is available, if
required. This facility allows costs and
commitments to be brought together against a job
or project from any area in the chart of accounts,
thus enabling simplicity in the charts of accounts
and greater flexibility in reporting.
FINEST
2-4 Hardware Platforms FINEST can be
implemented across a wide range of platforms,
including mainframes, mid-range processors and
even personal computers.
FINEST 2-5 Inventory Management The Inventory module caters for the
maintenance and control of inventory items. This
includes maintenance of catalogues, stores and
suppliers. Inventory and stock control are also
provided so that requisites can be ordered as
required. Actual stock levels are maintained
through the full integration of this module with
other FINEST
modules.
FINEST 2-6 Interfaces FINEST caters
for two generic interfaces for the import of data
in addition to export facilities discussed
earlier. These interfaces are designed to use the
existing routines from other modules of FINEST to maintain the integrity
and consistency of information.
